Printing Procedure

Students

Student printing is available at all four college locations in student-accessible spaces to specific hardware. Through software students are provided 100 free prints per quarter and can purchase additional prints via web portal. Faculty are encouraged to provide instructional materials to their students in digital format using Canvas whenever possible to reduce the cost burden for students associated with printing

Employees

All printing and copying that supports the administrative functions of the college are managed through an administrative printing budget. Supported costs include device lease costs, maintenance and printing consumables including paper, toner, and staples. The distribution of print consumables is done via the college’s central receiving warehouse operations. Device defaults are duplex (two-sided), black and white prints. While color is available on many centrally located devices, employees are asked to limit color printing where appropriate as color printing has a much higher per-print cost. Replacement equipment is funded through the central print budget. Departments wishing to purchase new print equipment will make an IT Service Request and provide justification.

Visitors and Partners

Visitors to the Economic Development Council or renters of college facilities can be issued temporary guest accounts by the EDC or College Events staff. The charges for printing on those accounts will be applied to the appropriate accounts. EDC or Events staff may or may not choose to charge back their guest account users, in which case, they will be responsible for printing charges.

Web Printing

Web printing can be done from most personal or college-owned devices. Anyone with a ClipperID can log in from their device and print common file types to designated printers in public/student areas. Please refer to the web printing support documentation for additional help.

Specialty Devices

A select group of specialty printers that support specific functions such as large format plotters, scientific instrumentation printers, and ID card printers are not covered by the centralized print maintenance contract. Support and maintenance of these devices is conducted through the department that purchased the device, although is paid from the central print budget.
