Human Subjects Procedure

The complete procedure guidelines can be found on the IRB Document attached. In summary, the investigator shall present to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), comprised of a group of college faculty and administrators consisting of no less than five individuals, a description of his or her research project’s goals, objectives, and procedures, along with documentation addressing each of the following requirements: disclosure, understanding, voluntariness, competence, and consent. Some research with human subjects is exempt from the requirements of the procedure. When specific exemptions are found a Certificate of Exemption is issued by the IRB. To conduct human subject research, please read and submit the “Use of Human Subject in Research” application which can be found on the SPSCC Institutional Review Board website.
