The Board of Trustees Policy, BORD 110 - Delegation of Authority to the President, specifically delegates to the president certain enumerated powers and duties. However, the president must sometimes by necessity be absent from the physical site of the college or unavailable to college staff by means of written, telephonic or electronic communication. Also, the president could become disabled by accident or illness thereby precluding his/her ability to perform in accordance with the authority delegated by the Board of Trustees.
Because of these considerations, the Board of Trustees:
A. Authorizes the president to specifically designate a vice president employed by the college as his/her designee fully authorized to exercise all powers and duties exercised by the president during the period of the president’s absence or disability.
Or
B. In the event of a medical emergency, extended absence, or travel, that results in his/her absence or disability, designates to the persons occupying the below-listed positions, the authority to exercise all powers and duties exercised by the president until a Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees has been called and resulted in appointment of an acting president.
1. Vice President for Instruction
2. Vice President for Student Services
3. Vice President for Finance and Operations
4. Vice President for Advancement
Prior to the appointment of an acting president, those persons holding the above-listed positions, shall be considered to be the president’s designee in the order of numbered priority such that no person shall exercise presidential authority unless all administrators preceding him/her on the list are also absent and unavailable.
