College in the High School Admissions Procedures

Applies to:

9th through 12th grade students, as determined by the local public school district, charter school or tribal compact school, that have an articulated CiHS program offered through a Washington state community and technical college or identified four-year university with State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) program certification or National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) program accreditation. 

High schools and districts are responsible for student placement into eligible courses. Students must meet college course placement requirements.  A student can complete a CiHS designated course for high school credit only if they choose to or do not meet college placement requirements.

Purpose: College in the High School (CiHS) allows eligible 9th through 12th grade students the opportunity to take college level courses from a college-approved eligible high school teacher while on their high school campus. Credit earned at the high school will be transcribed at SPSCC and can count toward college degree or transfer requirements.

To enroll, students must submit a CiHS Registration Request, apply to SPSCC and make appropriate course placement.  Detailed information and enrollment steps can be found on the College in the High School Admissions webpage.
