The Board of Trustees retains the authority to approve new academic and professional and technical degree programs offered by South Puget Sound Community College. The Board of Trustees also retains authority to discontinue academic and professional and technical degree programs. The Board shall consider degree approval or discontinuation upon the recommendation of the college administration.
Statewide alignment: All for-credit degrees and certificates will adhere to the requirements established and outlined in the Intercollege Relations Commission Handbook and State Board for Community and Technical College policies.
Residency: Unless otherwise specified in the College Catalogue, students must complete at least 30 credits at SPSCC to be granted an Associate’s degree or the last 15 credits at SPSCC to be granted a certificate.
Multiple Degrees: A student may earn more than one degree from South Puget Sound Community College. In addition to meeting the specific requirements for each degree, a candidate must earn an additional 30 credits for each additional degree. (Example: 90 credits for a first degree, 120 credits for a second degree, and 150 credits for a third degree). Fifty (50) credits must be earned in residence at South Puget Sound Community College for a student to be eligible to receive two degrees.
